A Brief History of Pete’s
The first Pete’s Restaurant in Greenville was opened in 1927 at 14 Pendleton Street where it was operated with much success. Pete’s introduced hotdogs with chili, which along with their burgers, were best-selling items. In the 1940’s the owners began opening other Pete’s which were numbered, but not franchised; and spread Pete’s from Greenville to the surrounding area. Pete’s Restaurants were well-known for their good food and were well-patronized.
In 1958, Pete’s #6 was opened on Highway 93 (Old Greenville Rd.) and moved to Calhoun Memorial hwy in 1966. The success of the business had outgrown the space of the prior location, and at the strong request of our customers for more available tables, we relocated our Pete’s Restaurant, for the third time, to our today’s location. We also moved our famous rubber tree which has become a part of Pete’s No.6 history, since 1966.
Pete’s #6 has preserved the secret successful recipes from the original Pete’s. We still make the same chili, coleslaw, onion rings, barbecue sauce, hamburger steak sauce and many other ‘homemade’ items which have been tested over time. In the new location we proudly introduced to our customers a wide variety of fresh delicious desserts, which are all made fresh in house daily.
Dear customers, we are proud to serve our community and thank you for your continuous support.
